Greystones House is a comfortable family home built of the local
soft blue lias stone. In the early 19th Century Greystones was the
home for the local blacksmith with his forge and stables in the
adjacent stone outbuildings. Over the years the original cottage was
extended, first on the east side (our kitchen with two small
bedrooms above and then 'gentrified' in the Edwardian period on the
west side (our large sitting room with bay windows and a rather
splendid spacious bedroom above for our guests). We have a
large attractive garden with some lovely trees, a rather bumpy
croquet lawn (it must have been a grass tennis court 50 years ago)
and a much more recently built hard tennis court. We hope you will
come and stay and of course you are very welcome to enjoy the
garden, play tennis or a challenging game of croquet, snooze in a
hammock or swing on a swing ..... weather permitting!.
Somerset and our close neighbour Dorset
to the south are beautiful rural counties with some splendid and
different historic towns - Bath of course but also Bristol, Wells,
Dorchester and others are well worth visiting. It is also very
convenient for the Bath and West Showground where there are many events
taking place from Antique & Collectors Fairs to the Bath and West
Agricultural Show. Greystones is very much central to this
lovely area and we hope that you will come and stay and conquer!
Greystones has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere so enjoy your
lovely big bedroom with a good book, a pot of tea and a slice of home
made cake.
